How to Chat with Your AI Coach

NutriTracker is chat-first. The quickest way to use it is to tell your coach what is happening and ask for the next useful step.

Before you start #

  • You must be signed in and have AI data consent active.
  • Your coach can use chat context, profile details, connected data, and memory where your settings allow it.
  • NutriTracker can support everyday nutrition and fitness decisions, but it does not diagnose or replace professional care.

Where to find it #

iOS #

  1. Open NutriTracker.
  2. Tap Chat in the bottom tab bar.
  3. Use the message box at the bottom of the screen.

Android #

  1. Open NutriTracker.
  2. Tap Chat in the bottom tab bar.
  3. Use the message box at the bottom of the screen.

Web #

  1. Open NutriTracker on web.
  2. Open Chat from the navigation or go to /chat.
  3. Use the message box at the bottom of the page.

How to use it #

  1. Ask a normal question or describe the situation. For example: "I have 20 minutes and no food prepped. What should I do?"
  2. Tap a quick reply or chip when one appears. The chip sends that text as your reply.
  3. Attach a supported image when you want the coach to understand a meal or progress photo context.
  4. Correct the coach clearly if it gets something wrong. Say: "That is not right. I am vegetarian and I train in the evening."
  5. Use Coaching Rhythm quick replies such as "This feels wrong", "Stop suggesting this", or "Explain how you know this" when a timing suggestion misses your real routine.
  6. Use Settings > Coach Personality to switch coach where your plan allows it.
  7. Use Settings > Your Memory to edit, pin, delete, or pause what the coach learns where memory controls are enabled.

What happens next #

  • Your message is sent and the coach replies in the chat thread.
  • Streaming replies may appear gradually before the final message is saved.
  • Relevant memory updates can refresh your memory and insights after the coach reply completes.
  • Coaching Rhythm corrections can update future chat, reminders, weekly reviews, and rhythm suggestions.
  • If a quick reply creates a user message, it becomes part of the conversation like typed text.

Troubleshooting #

  • My message failed to send. Check your connection, wait a moment, and send again. Avoid tapping repeatedly while the composer is still sending.
  • Messages duplicate. Refresh the chat. NutriTracker reconciles local sending messages with saved server messages; repeated tapping can briefly show duplicates.
  • The coach seems out of context. Tell the coach the missing detail and check Settings > Your Memory to make sure memory learning is not paused and the saved memory is correct.
  • A rhythm suggestion is wrong. Use the correction chip when shown, or tell the coach plainly what changed this week. Unusual weeks, travel, permission changes, and incomplete syncs can make timing suggestions less accurate.
  • The reply feels unsafe. Stop following that advice. Email help@nutritracker.io with the message context and seek professional help immediately if the situation is urgent.
  • Quick replies are not shown. Quick replies appear only on some coaching turns. You can always type your own answer.

Privacy and safety notes #

  • Do not send passwords, payment details, or urgent medical information in chat.
  • Use AI Data Sharing controls if you want to pause AI coaching access, and Memory controls if you want to manage what is remembered.
