On Android, NutriTracker uses Health Connect for health data. Some older wording says Google Fit, but the current Android settings screen is Health Connect.
Before you start #
- Health Connect requires a supported Android device and the Health Connect app or system service.
- You must be signed in and grant permissions.
- NutriTracker reads aggregated daily data and does not write data to Health Connect.
- Health-derived Coaching Rhythm timing is optional and depends on the Health Connect permissions you grant.
Where to find it #
iOS #
- Android Health Connect is not available on iOS.
- Use Settings > Integrations > Apple Health on iPhone.
Android #
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connected Apps.
- Tap Health Connect.
- Tap Connect or Install when prompted.
Web #
- Android Health Connect cannot be connected from web.
- Use the Android app, then view synced insights on web after sync completes.
How to use it #
- Open Health Connect from Settings > Connected Apps.
- If Health Connect is not installed, tap Install and follow Google Play.
- Tap Connect.
- Grant the requested permissions for the data types you want NutriTracker to read.
- NutriTracker starts an initial 7-day sync after connection when permissions are granted.
- Use Sync > Sync on the Health Connect screen to manually sync today's data later.
- Use Change permissions in Health Connect if you want to adjust access.
What happens next #
- NutriTracker can use steps, active calories, sleep, exercise sessions, and weight where permission is granted.
- The Health Connect screen shows Data Synced chips after connection.
- Coaching Rhythm may use bounded timing buckets from permitted Health Connect data; raw health samples are not uploaded for rhythm personalisation.
- The Manual Scale card can still be used for normal scale readings even when Health Connect is not connected.
Troubleshooting #
- Health Connect says Not installed. Tap Install on the Health Connect screen or install Health Connect from Google Play.
- Health Connect is not available on this device. Use manual logs and chat instead, or try on a supported Android device.
- Some data types are missing. Open Change permissions in Health Connect and grant the missing data type.
- The article says Google Fit but the app says Health Connect. Use Health Connect. The current Android implementation uses Health Connect as the Android health data surface.
Privacy and safety notes #
- NutriTracker uses aggregated daily totals and does not access or store raw per-second health samples.
- Health data is not used for advertising or unrelated targeting.
- All Health Connect access is read-only.
