Setting Personal Guardrails

Guardrails are personal coaching boundaries. They help your coach avoid topics, words, or approaches that are not useful for you.

Before you start #

  • You must be signed in.
  • Guardrails work best when they are specific and written in plain language.
  • Guardrails are not emergency controls. Contact support or a professional if advice feels unsafe or urgent.

Where to find it #

iOS #

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Use Settings search and search for Guardrails if the row is not visible.
  3. Open Personal Guardrails when shown.

Android #

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Use Settings search and search for Guardrails.
  3. Open Personal Guardrails when shown.

Web #

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open the Coach section or Privacy & Security section and look for Personal Guardrails when enabled.

How to use it #

  1. Open Personal Guardrails.
  2. Add one clear boundary at a time. For example: "Do not frame food as good or bad."
  3. Save the guardrail.
  4. Use Chat to reinforce it if needed. For example: "Remember my guardrail about calorie talk."
  5. Edit or remove guardrails when they no longer fit.

What happens next #

  • Your coach should avoid the saved boundary in future replies.
  • Guardrails sit alongside safety rules, so they cannot make the coach provide unsafe or medical advice.
  • The coach may still ask a clarifying question if the guardrail conflicts with your current request.

Troubleshooting #

  • I cannot find guardrails. Use Settings search. If no result appears, use Chat to state the boundary and check Memory controls for a saved preference.
  • The coach ignored a guardrail. Correct it in Chat and contact help@nutritracker.io if it keeps happening. Include the guardrail and the coach reply.
  • The guardrail is too broad. Rewrite it as one concrete boundary. Short, specific guardrails are easier for the coach to follow.
  • A guardrail blocks useful advice. Edit or remove it, then tell your coach what kind of support is acceptable.

Privacy and safety notes #

  • Guardrails may reveal sensitive preferences. Keep them practical and avoid storing secrets.
